| Hey all, Drop by The Make-Out Room this Thursday night, July 27th, for the latest SOUL FINGER presentation. Early on I'm going to play Serge Gainsbourg's 1971 masterpiece, "Historie de Melody Nelson", featuring the late Jane Birkin. For the uninitiated, "Melody Nelson" is an unparalleled cinematic soundscape of orchestration, melding slow-burn funk with intimate mumblings, laughter, piano flares, lush strings, and jagged guitars. (It's well worth your time; also one of the few reissues I've ever seen get a 10/10 on Pitchfork.) Later on, we can have a listen to a few recently acquired burners that have been in heavy rotation on the home stereo system, sides like "Life Is Free (You Can Be What You Want to Be)" by Donald Height, "I Stayed Away Too Long" by Manuel B. Holcomb, "Wobble Legs" by Tommy Dark, and "Get Loose When You Get Loose" by Jesse Anderson.
