Update: March 15, 5:05pm
After further consideration the Make Out Room will close its doors until further notice starting tonight, Sunday 3/15. The number of infected persons doubles every 3 days and now is the time to practice social distancing to stop the spread of COVID 19. Thanks again for your patronage and we look forward to seeing you all in the near future. Stay healthy, and stay safe!
Dear Friends of the Make Out Room,
We greatly appreciate your continued support and patronage during the COVID 19 outbreak. Being a small venue (around the 100 person recommended limit) we have decided after much deliberation with bar staff and management to remain open for the time being. Until the CDC or other authorities mandate closure we will continue to support our staff, community, and every musician/performer who relies on us.
Most of our staff live not just paycheck to paycheck, but also shift to shift. If we have to close our doors they won't be able to rely on unemployment benefits -they live mostly off of their tips. Unemployment insurance won't provide them a living wage. That's where you can help.
What we ask of you:
What we are doing:
We can beat this and "flatten the curve" by staying healthy, social distancing, observing all precautions, and playing safe.
Sincerely,
The Make Out Room

Dear Friends of the Make Out Room,
We greatly appreciate your continued support and patronage during the COVID 19 outbreak. Being a small venue (around the 100 person recommended limit) we have decided after much deliberation with bar staff and management to remain open for the time being. Until the CDC or other authorities mandate closure we will continue to support our staff, community, and every musician/performer who relies on us.

What we ask of you:
- Continue to frequent and support the venues you love and the staff who rely on your patronage.
- However, if you are a person with a compromised immune system (prone to colds or flu) or who's elderly, at risk, have a respiratory condition, or are possibly ill, we ask you to please stay home and self-quarantine to protect yourself and others.
- When visiting during this time we ask that you observe all recommended precautions such as minimal contact (remain at arms length from your neighbor at the very least), if the music is too loud to communicate at that distance, try texting. Don't get too close to someone and risk unintentionally spraying them with spittle. Avoid handshaking and substitute with elbow bumping if you must make contact. Keep a safe distance and ask others to do the same.
- Frequent hand-washing, as you know, is key. We have an ample supply of soap and paper towels in the restroom. If these items are running low, please alert a staff member. Never touch your face (or anyone else's) unless you have just washed your hands. This includes ears, eyes, nose and mouth.
What we are doing:
- We are closely monitoring daily updates and recommendations from the CDC and Governor Newsom.
- Employees have been instructed to stay home if they have even the slightest symptoms of illness.
- We are continually sanitizing tables, chairs, surfaces, door handles, restrooms, etc.
- As always, we continue to follow SF Health Dept. guidelines: All glassware and bar utensils are thoroughly washed in hot, soapy water, rinsed in fresh water and then dipped into a sanitizing solution.
- Limiting the amount of patrons in the room to 100 people or less. This allows for over 7 sq. ft. per person.
We can beat this and "flatten the curve" by staying healthy, social distancing, observing all precautions, and playing safe.
Sincerely,
The Make Out Room
