Night Herons + Sofie Winterson (Dream-pop from Amsterdam) + Williford ~ $8 ~ 7:30 - 11:00 pm
Formed in 2013, Night Herons is a rock band out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Comprised of Dana Berry on vocals, drums and guitar, Mike Assenzio on guitar and Larry Huene on guitar and drums, the band is a mish mash of influences that have congealed in a solid chunk of indie/alt-whatever rock and roll. The band quickly found themselves with enough quality songs to record so opted to get in the studio before playing live. Recruiting Patrick Abernethy (Pancho-San, Rogue Wave, Beulah) to help produce and Pat Spurgeon (Rogue Wave, Pancho-San) to engineer at their studio in Emeryville, the recording of Shipyard Riot began in March 2014. The album is now out and the line-up completed with the addition of Mason Holding on bass. The Night Herons 1st show was Saturday, November 8th, 2014 at the Make-Out Room in San Francisco.

SOFIE WINTERSON
Sofie Winterson’s music is what happens when vulnerability and theatricality collide. Her debut album Wires rides high on dense instrumentation, crashing guitars, and chanted vocals that seem to be delivered straight from the heavens above. Even so, we’re never allowed to forget the flesh and blood woman at the center of it all.

A west coast blend of soulful vocals and pop/rock sensibilities, Williford started as a recording project for the band's founding member Scott Williford. Mining the studio talents of former bandmates in local outfits such as Grey and Nema-7, the Bay Area singer/songwriter decided to put some previously neglected material to tape. Pure amplification was abandoned for a more organic approach, the result of which is the 5 song self-recorded and produced EP, Metropolitan Blues.------Coming up next: Scott W. recruited stylistically eclectic players allowing his R & B meets Psych-Pop hybrid to translate to the stage. During the process of finalizing arrangements with the current line up, new material was thrown into the mix, and Williford's live experience – while at times punched up – remains authentic, smart and varied. . |
