Jacob Aranda:
In the tradition of songwriters like Townes Van Zandt, Leonard Cohen, and Jay Farrar, Aranda's music has a solemn gravity that is melancholy and beautiful, with haunting, often cinematic images of traveling through landscapes both external and internal. Listening to his songs is like walking in the desert late at night; your path is illuminated only by the pinpricks of stars, yet somehow you seem see everything clearly in the dark, the ground is firm, you will keep walking, and you know that Aranda's voice and words will guide you home.
Billy & Dolly:
The duet of Bill Rousseau and Dahlia Gallin Ramirez, have been a fixture in the Bay Area independent music scene since they first broke through in 2004 with their heavy, Moog-centric outfit, The Monolith. After five years of pavement pounding, The Monolith called it quits, but the duo kept close together, traded in the electronics for acoustic guitar and piano, and turned to the pop music of their earliest memories: Donovan, Simon & Garfunkel, and Dolly Parton to name a few. With the requisite stripping of layers and effects, the duo brought their vocals to the forefront, delivering heartfelt tales and arresting stories of love, loss, and everything in between. Billy & Dolly have teamed up with a new rhythm section, comprised of drummer Elliott Kiger (Spyrals) and bassist Charley Hine (huge Kings X fan) and are rocking a bit harder than this out of date bio would suggest.
Sea Dramas:
The music of San Francisco’s Sea Dramas ranges from hazy folk with pensive melodies to 60s inspired echo laden pop that melds genres and styles with swirling, dreamlike qualities. Sea Dramas began as a voyage in songwriting and recording by multi-instrumentalist Scott Pettersen as textured lo-fi bedroom recordings with the intent to create boy/girl duo/harmony based songs. Through the process a full-fledged band emerged.
