Dear Nora + Soar + Stephen Steinbrink ~ $8 ~ 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm
Dear Nora is a passionately celebrated recording project fronted by Katy Davidson, touring in support of the re-issue of the 2004 LP, "Mountain Rock", released by Orindal on January 13, 2017. Katy (also known for her work with Key Losers, Lloyd & Michael, YACHT, and Gossip) wrote "Mountain Rock" during the time of George W. Bush’s early presidency, the 9/11 attacks, and the beginning of the Iraq war. She recorded the majority of the songs during winter in rural Arizona at the end of 2003, after returning home from a tour of Sweden. “Hey Ya!” by Outkast had just been released and it was playing everywhere. Overall this album is about bliss and terror, and how interactions with wilderness and humanity can provoke those emotions.

Stephen Steinbrink was born in 1988 in a non-descript stucco hospital franchise adjacent to a Circle K in the ultra-conservative Phoenix suburb of Mesa, AZ. He grew up and learned to play guitar to deal. The majority of his teens and twenties were spent living an improvised and experimental existence, being nowhere and recording music incessantly. His 8 LPs of pop songs have been released in Japan, Europe & North America, and has performed in dozens of countries around the world. He currently lives in Oakland, CA and is recording a song-cycle in collaboration with the author Meagan Day inspired by her book Maximum Sunlight, released by Wolfman Editions on Dec. 16th.

SOAR is Jenna, Rebecca, Shannon, and Mai. They're members of joyride!, Watercolor Paintings, Void Boys, Dreamspoiler and a bunch of other bands. We four met on an internet dating website. It was quickly decided that we were better off as a band than anything with romantic intentions. It was just so convenient that we had all the basic rock band instruments covered, we couldn't pass up the opportunity.
