About the readers/performers:
IRENE MCCALPHIN (aka MAGNOLIAH BLACK)
They are a writer, performance artist, model, witch, singer and eater of food in public, Irene McCalphin is a long time bay area favorite! They are one third of the diverse witchcraft ternion The Virgo Homo Thugs for the Revolution. As co-founder and massage therapist of A Sovereign Embodiment Healing Collective and Board-member of the Body Political Irene blends magic with massage, storytelling and performance art to liberate, heal and reclaim space for marginalized community. They’re currently working on a book and facilitating the creation a healing and retreat space for queer femmes in Grass Valley, Ca.
SNJV
SNJV, pronounced: SUN-JEEV is an educator and artist who dances, choreographs, acts, and serves. He has balanced a career in the Performance and Education since 2006. He is a drag artist who infuses culture into movement and fashion to create a story inclusive to all. He proudly holds the title of Mister GAPA (Gay Asian Pacific Alliance) 2019 and is the first South-Asian title holder in its history. He is co-founder of Parivar (means family in Hindi)-a social collective to support and celebrate queer, trans, gender non-conforming folks connected to the South Asian diaspora. He has earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Merced and a Masters in Education from the University of Vermont. His path in Education has brought him to institutions such as the University of Southern California, San Francisco State, UC Berkeley, and Stanford. He has travelled the country extensively giving talks and conducting trainings on inclusive and kind behavior. He takes pride in leading thought in spaces of identity. His documentary film titled, SACH will premiere at Strut in January 16, 2020 at 7pm. This film explores his truth as an Indian drag performer.
JOE WADLINGTON
Joe Wadlington grew up in the Appalachian Mountains near, but not near enough, to Dollywood. Now he lives in San Francisco where he writes about dating, gay stuff, technology, and when they sabotage each other. He also performs as the adorable and sassy Jean Anne Tonic! He’s been published in The New Yorker, The Rumpus, Food & Wine Magazine, the satire collection Loose Lips (Grand Central Publishing), and Sparkle & Blink. He runs the weekly writing prompt newsletter, Drafts. He was named one of the “13 Bay Area Writers to Watch and Read” of 2016. He’s a founding member of the Finishing School writer’s workshop and attended the Cuttyhunk Island Writer’s Residency in fall, 2017.
ROBERT ANDREW PEREZ
Robert Andrew Andres Perez Jr. is a poet living in West Oakland. He is an associate editor & book designer for speCt!, an art book press that prints small-batch single-author chapbooks & the magazine Oar out in Oakland, where he also curates readings. Born in Manila & raised in the sprawling outeredges of Los Angeles County, he moved to the Bay Area to receive his BA from Berkeley & MFA from Saint Mary's College of California, where he occasionally teaches. He is an alum of the Lambda Literary fellowship & a recipient of the Lannan Literary Award for poetry. His poetry has appeared in print & online in publications such as DIAGRAM, The Awl, The Laurel Review & The Cortland Review. Recently his poetry was featured in Public Pool and Vinyl Poetry and has forthcoming work in Fourteen Hills and Lambda Literary's Spotlight Series. His first collection, the field, was published with Omnidawn in 2016. He's a 2017 guest editor for the online journal The Elephants.

Baruch Porras-Hernandez was born in Toluca, Mexico, was raised here in the Bay Area and lives in San Francisco! He most recently performed his solo show Love in the Time of Piñatas to sold out crowds with Epic Party Theatre, earning him a clapping man from the SFChronicle! He is a two time winner of Literary Death Match! Winner of WriteClubSF! Long time regining champion of MuniHaiku at Muni Diaries, and is one of the only ever winners of the RADAR Slam! He's hosted literary events with Lambda Literary in LA, The Rumpus in Portland at AWP, LitQuake, KQED, Berkeley Poetry Festival, Shipwreck SF, and many more. He's gone on tour with the legendary Sister Spit Queer Poetry tour RADAR Productions, he's performed several solo shows, been a part of numerous Stand Up Comedy Festivals, and is the author of two small collections of poetry! He loves sexy men, gummy bears, and flan!
