A Violet Sun (Anaheim) + Cuevo Perez (Oakland) + Cap'n Noodle (aka Corey Allen Porter) ~ $8 ~ 7:00pm - 10:30pm
Whether it be on an 8-bit playing field or in a sold out venue, Jay Valdez (vocals, guitar, bass, piano.) and Sid Suarez (drums, percussion, vocals), the energetic duo comprising the band that is A Violet Sun, have been well versed in the artistic values of creation since childhood. The two weave music with coming-of-age narratives that showcase the highs and lows of growing up. “Fin,” a heartfelt single from their self-titled album, is written with minor tones of defeat and invites the audience to witness the song’s narrator admit to addiction. “Laundry and Curtains,” on the other hand, the first single from their latest effort—an EP titled, “The Middle Drawer”—is a catchy, uptempo pop song which gives voice to the long forgotten dreams of our youth and reminds us that our ambitions have brought us all this far, and not an inch farther. |
