ANDREW CERVANTES & NOELLE FIORE + GRANT EARL LAVALLEY + MICHAEL JAMES TAPSCOTT ~ $8~ 7:30 - 11:30pm
Andrew Cervantes was born and raised in San Diego and now lives and records in San Francisco. Influenced by songwriters like Leonard Cohen, Townes Van Zandt, Merle Haggard, and Guy Clark, Andrew's lyrics are distinctly his own, with beautiful, haunting images of landscapes both internal and external; stories of traveling, searching, rambling, and the impermanence of life and love. | Dark. Solemn. Sparse. Enchanting... Sounds from a bleak landscape, formed from dust and dry bones... Backed for this show by Alicia Vanden Heuvel (Aislers Set, Magic Trick) and Jacob Aranda (Tarnation, China) we will hear songs Andrew has been recording for his upcoming album. |
Grant Earl Lavalley is an American singer-songwriter whose songs bring us to that rare cross between psychedelic folk and country music. Think of a growly Gene Clark, singing odes to desert ramblers. “Ohio’s misfit son exposed to the harsher California desert landscapes” of Joshua Tree, which is where he now lives and works. https://grantearllavalley.bandcamp.com | Michael James Tapscott is the lead singer & songwriter for San Francisco folk-rock band China. (https://chinatheband.bandcamp.com/) Their debut album Pool of Tears, 2016, garnered them praise by critics and fellow musicians for its layered soundscapes, lush harmonies, melodic bass lines & Tapscott’s uniquely haunting yet captivating voice. (hints of early Neil Young). Seeing him performing solo is a rarity & one fans won’t want to miss. |
