DJ Centipede ~ claims the distinct honor of having really brought down the dance floor. Literally. As the dude tells it, he was DJing a party in Oakland a decade back and the entire floor collapsed from people bouncing on it. Talk about dropping some bass. Thug-Jazz and Riot-Funk, Psych-Madness and Funk-Rock, mixed with Dirty Instrumental and Dub Beats from around the world.
Thom Thump ~ Currently Hosts and Plays with DJ Centipede and DJ Damon Bell at the Hottest Most Original Friday Weekly in the City! LOOSE JOINTS! at the Make Out Room
Selected by international "future music" journal URB MAGAZINE as one club musics' "NEXT 100" DJ THOM THUMP is receiving long deserved recognition for his joyful exploration, programming and presentation of all that has been worthwhile in creative club culture for most of the past 2 decades. As a DJ he is known for his club rocking, genre busting eclectic sets and his diversity is reflected in his broad output as a compiler of CDs for Kinkysweet / Cosmic Flux and others. From the deep afrobeat, to soulful disco nuggets, mash up beatdowns, electro house grinds and jazzy hip hop … his work is respected by heroes such as Rich Medina, Nickodemus, Wajeed (Platinum Pied Pipers), and others. As the music has grown and evolved , so has Mr.Thump's scope and vision... Tom first got acclaim by Djing clubs, house parties and raves in LA and SF in the early 90s becoming a resident at Metro Jazz (with Mauricio Aviles, Franky Boissy and Julius Papp), Mushroom Jazz (Mark Farina, Rasta Qtip, DJ Iz) and Release in San Francisco. He has achieved a semi-cult status on the West Coast and around the world for his underground eclectic/dancefloor-jazz/hip hop/jazzy house and atmospheric drum & bass mix tapes (and now CDs ). Including his latest "LET'S LISTEN TO SOME MUSIC!". As one of the driving forces behind the legendary rare groove/nu jazz GROOVE MERCHANT RECORDS (of Ubiquity Records fame) , from 1995 to 2002 Tom honed his knowledge and his own brand of innovative, emotionally charged "left field" style. AUGUST 2007 Kinkysweet Records released his stellar compilation 2CD Set "FREQUENT FLYER:HAVANA" Featuring Latin Electronica and Jazz from Quantic / Adrian Quesada (Thievery Corporation Remix, Aloe Blacc, John Beltran, Carlos Mena, Har-You Percussion Group, Combo Moderna (Gerardo Frisina Mix, Afro- Cuban Bata Ensemble, Snowboy, Omar Sosa with Greg Landau, Potato Valdez, Romanowski (Pop en la Moda Mix), Mo'Horizons (Fort Knox Five Mix), and others.
